Life After Key - Middle School
LIFE AFTER KEY COMMITTEE REPORT
The Life After Key Committee (LAK) is a new joint committee of Key School's PTA and LSRT. The committee is tasked with assembling information for Key families about public school options (especially middle school) after Key. While Hardy is naturally the main school on our radar (because it is the only school into which Key students formally feed), the committee also hopes selectively to compile information on both the out-of-bounds options and processes for select other public and charter middle schools. Private schools are not part of our focus.
Read interviews with families of children at Hardy, Deal and Latin conducted by Laura Retzler of the LAK committee. This is intended to be the first set of three interviews.

So far this year, our committee members have:
- Met with the Chancellor's office to ask some specific questions about the plans DCPS has for middle schools in the city,
- Compiled a list of questions to pose to Key families who also have children at Hardy, Deal and Latin,
- Compiled some data about which middle schools Key students have attended in the last 3 years, and
- Developed a plan to refine and elaborate on comparative data about the main public school middle school options for Key.
Our plan will be to make all of this information available to Key families on the Key School website as the information is compiled, as well as to DCPS and the Six School Council.
Should you wish to participate on the LAK Committee, or if you have any suggestions or questions, please contact Patricia Sulser, the Chair of the LAK Committee, at psulser@ifc.org.
